Increase educational opportunities by creating more local control, increasing charter school options, and school choice. Improving education in New Mexico requires a comprehensive and multifaceted approach involving various stakeholders, policies, and initiatives. Several strategies can contribute to enhancing the education system in the state including the allocation of resources, good teacher retention, innovative teaching methods, investment, Expanded career and technical education (CTE), and a better system to analyze student and teacher performance

Healthcare

Have you or someone in your network encountered challenges when attempting to schedule care with your primary healthcare provider?

According to the State of New Mexico’s Office of Health Equity, the healthcare provider shortage in the region has been identified as a significant obstacle, adversely affecting both preventative care measures and the accessibility of treatment options (source: NMDOH). This shortage appears to manifest in prolonged waiting times for appointments, often requiring individuals to schedule healthcare services months in advance. In some cases, individuals find themselves compelled to resort to urgent care facilities or emergency rooms for issues that a primary care provider could effectively address.

To alleviate this strain on the healthcare system and enhance accessibility, a pertinent recommendation is to consider a reduction or elimination of gross receipt tax in the medical field
